Falafel Ingredients

Method

Falafel Preparation

  1. 1

    Soak Chickpeas

Rinse and soak dried chickpeas in water overnight, or for at least 8 hours.

  2. 2

    Blend Ingredients

Drain and rinse the soaked chickpeas. In a food processor, combine chickpeas, parsley, cilantro, onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Pulse until the mixture is coarse and well combined.

  3. 3

    Form Falafel Balls

Transfer the mixture to a bowl. Add flour and mix until combined. Form small balls (about 1.5 inches in diameter) and place them on a plate.

  4. 4

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

  5. 5

    Fry Falafel

Once the oil is hot, carefully place the falafel balls in the oil. Fry in batches for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove them with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
