Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prep the ingredients

Finely chop the onion, mince the garlic, and grate the ginger. Puree the tomato in a blender and set aside.

  2. 2

    Chop coriander

Wash and chop the fresh coriander leaves finely, then set aside for garnish.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sauté the aromatics

In a large pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter for a few seconds.

  2. 4

    Add onions

Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until they turn golden brown.

  3. 5

    Cook garlic and ginger

Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for another 2 minutes until fragrant.

  4. 6

    Brown the meat

Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon.

  5. 7

    Mix in spices

Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt to the meat. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes.

  6. 8

    Add tomato puree

Stir in the pureed tomato and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes.

  7. 9

    Finish with garam masala

Once the mixture thickens and the oil separates, sprinkle garam masala and mix well.

  8. 10

    Garnish and serve

Remove from heat, stir in the chopped coriander, and serve hot with rice or naan.
