Gummy Base & Colostrum

Method

Gummy Base & Colostrum

  1. 1

    Bloom gelatin

Measure 3 tablespoons gelatin into a small heatproof bowl. Pour 1/2 cup of the filtered water (from the measured 1 cup) over the gelatin and stir gently to hydrate. Let sit 5–10 minutes until the gelatin has absorbed the water and looks spongy (bloomed).

  2. 2

    Warm remaining liquid

In a small saucepan, combine the remaining 1/2 cup filtered water and the honey (or agave) and warm gently over low heat until the honey dissolves and the liquid is just warm (do not boil). Maintain temperature under 50°C / 122°F to protect colostrum bioactives.

  3. 3

    Dissolve bloomed gelatin

Add the bloomed gelatin to the warm honey-water and whisk continuously over low heat until the gelatin fully dissolves and the mixture is smooth (about 1–2 minutes). Do not let the mixture boil; keep it between 40–50°C / 104–122°F.

  4. 4

    Cool slightly and add colostrum

Remove the pan from heat and let the mixture cool for 1–2 minutes so it’s warm but not hot. Stir in the 60 g colostrum powder in small increments, whisking or using a small immersion blender to fully incorporate and prevent clumping. Keep mixture below 50°C / 122°F to preserve colostrum's antibodies and growth factors.

  5. 5

    Add acid & optional stabilizers

Whisk in the lemon juice (1 tablespoon) which helps set the gummies and balances flavor. If using, add vitamin C powder and 1 tablespoon fruit juice now and whisk until fully dissolved. If using vanilla extract, add it at this stage and stir to combine.

  6. 6

    Mold the gummies

Lightly grease silicone molds or a shallow pan with a thin layer of coconut oil. Working quickly but carefully, pour the warm colostrum-gelatin mixture into molds or a lined 8x8-inch pan. Tap the molds gently on the counter to remove air bubbles and ensure even filling.

  7. 7

    Set and chill

Allow the gummies to cool at room temperature for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to fully set. For firmer gummies, chill up to 4 hours.

  8. 8

    Unmold and store

Carefully pop gummies from silicone molds or cut into bite-sized squares if set in a pan. Place gummies in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. For longer storage, freeze in a single layer on a tray, then transfer to a sealed freezer bag for up to 3 months. Thaw in refrigerator before use.

  9. 9

    Dosage guidance

Each batch yields approximately 40–60 small gummies depending on mold size. Typical serving: 2–3 gummies daily (calculate colostrum per gummy by dividing total colostrum weight by number of gummies). Adjust serving according to product guidance and practitioner recommendations.

Optional Flavor & Stability Add-ins

  1. 10

If adding fruit juice or vitamin C powder: dissolve them into the warm honey-water before adding the bloomed gelatin (or add after dissolving gelatin but before adding colostrum), ensuring the mixture remains below 50°C / 122°F. Note: high acidity or vitamin C can slightly speed setting; test a small batch if altering amounts.

  2. 11

If using vanilla extract: stir it in after removing the mixture from heat and after the colostrum is incorporated to preserve volatile flavors.

  3. 12

For different textures: increase gelatin to 3.5 tablespoons for firmer gummies, or reduce to 2.5 tablespoons for softer, chewier gummies. Any change requires minor adjustments to chilling time.

  4. 13

Coating option: lightly dust gummies with powdered sugar or a mixture of tapioca starch and a pinch of salt to prevent sticking. This is optional and may alter storage stability.
