Method
Cleanser base

Sterilize all utensils, measuring tools, and a clean 8–12 oz pump bottle with hot water and allow to dry. Use gloves if available.

Warm the distilled water to about 30–35°C (lukewarm) to help powders dissolve. Do not overheat.

Measure the glycerin and add it to the warmed distilled water; stir to combine.

Measure the gentle syndet liquid (or mild baby shampoo) and slowly add it to the water/glycerin mixture while stirring gently to avoid excessive foaming.

If using polysorbate 20 to help solubilize extracts or actives, add it now and mix gently until homogeneous.

If using niacinamide powder, pre-dissolve the measured powder in a small amount (about 1 tsp) of the warmed distilled water taken from the total, stirring until fully dissolved to avoid graininess; then add back to the main mixture.

Dissolve the zinc PCA or zinc sulfate powder in a teaspoon of water and add to the cleanser; zinc ingredients can be gritty if not fully dissolved—stir until smooth.

Add the panthenol solution and green tea extract (or brewed cooled green tea) to the mixture and stir gently to incorporate.

If using allantoin powder, pre-wet it with a few drops of glycerin or water to disperse, then add and stir until fully dissolved.

Check the pH of the mixture with pH strips or a pH meter. Aim for a pH between 5.0 and 6.0 for facial skin compatibility and niacinamide stability.

Add lactic acid (start with the measured 0.25 tsp) dropwise, stirring and re-checking pH until you reach 5.0–5.5. Use caution — acids are potent; adjust slowly.

Once pH is set, add the broad-spectrum preservative according to manufacturer instructions (the 0.5 tsp listed is an example; follow the product's recommended use level). Stir thoroughly for 1–2 minutes.

If you want fragrance, add 1 drop now (not recommended for sensitive skin).
Finish & packaging

Let the cleanser sit at room temperature for 30 minutes, then re-check pH and appearance. If there is separation, vortex or shake vigorously and confirm homogeneity.

Pour the finished cleanser into the sterilized pump bottle using a funnel. Label with ingredient list and date made. Store at room temperature away from direct sunlight.

Use: dispense a dime-sized amount, lather with water, cleanse face for 30–60 seconds, then rinse thoroughly. Patch-test new formulations on the inner forearm 24–48 hours before facial use.
