Pasta

Method

Prepare the Pasta

  1. 1

    Cook the Macaroni

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Make the Cheese Sauce

  1. 2

    Create the Roux

In a large saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the all-purpose flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.

  2. 3

    Add Milk

Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to cook, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 4

    Incorporate the Cheeses

Reduce heat to low and add the shredded cheddar cheese and cream cheese. Stir until melted and smooth. Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Combine and Bake

  1. 5

    Mix Pasta and Sauce

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked macaroni and cheese sauce. Stir well to coat the pasta evenly.

  2. 6

    Prepare for Baking

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the macaroni and cheese mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

  3. 7

    Add Topping

In a small bowl, mix together the bread crumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, and paprika. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the macaroni and cheese.

  4. 8

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and crispy. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
