For the Mac & Cheese

For the Burger Assembly

Method

Prepare the Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Shape the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about ¾ inch thick. Make a small indent in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent puffing while cooking.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.

Prepare the Mac & Cheese

  1. 4

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 5

    Make the Cheese Sauce

In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.

  3. 6

    Add Cheese and Seasonings

Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted. Add salt, black pepper, and paprika to taste.

  4. 7

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until well coated.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 8

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon strips until crispy. Once done, remove them and drain on paper towels.

  2. 9

    Toast the Buns

Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  3. 10

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by a burger patty, a generous scoop of mac & cheese, crispy bacon, tomato slices, and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.
