Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare the Baking Pan

Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with butter or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Mixing the Batter

  1. 3

    Melt the Butter

In a medium-sized saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  2. 4

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, salt, and baking powder until well combined.

  3. 5

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In the saucepan with melted butter, add the eggs and vanilla extract. Whisk together until fully combined.

  4. 6

    Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients

Pour the wet mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix. The batter should be thick and fudgy.

  5. 7

    Add Optional Ingredients

If desired, fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts into the batter.

Baking

  1. 8

    Pour and Spread Batter

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly using a spatula.

  2. 9

    Bake the Brownies

Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  3. 10

    Cool and Cut

Remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes. Then, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into squares.
