Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Filet Mignon

Remove the filet mignon from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Meat

Rub each filet mignon with olive oil, then sprinkle salt, black pepper, and garlic powder evenly on both sides.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat (about 450°F to 500°F).

  2. 4

    Grill the Filet Mignon

Place the seasoned filet mignon on the grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or longer if you prefer a more well-done steak.

  3. 5

    Add Butter and Rosemary (Optional)

In the last minute of cooking, add a tablespoon of butter and a sprig of rosemary on top of each steak for added flavor.

Finishing Touches

  1. 6

    Rest the Steaks

Remove the filet mignon from the grill and let it rest on a plate for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute and keeps the meat tender.

  2. 7

    Prepare Red Wine Sauce (Optional)

In a small saucepan, add 1 cup of red wine. Bring to a simmer and reduce by half, then pour over the rested filet mignon before serving.
