Fruit Filling

Method

Prepare the Fruit Filling

  1. 1

    Prepare the Peaches

If using peaches, wash, peel, and slice them into thin pieces. Place in a large mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Mix the Ingredients

Add granulated sugar, lemon juice, flour, and cinnamon to the bowl with the peaches. Toss gently until the peaches are well coated. Let sit for 15 minutes.

Make the Cobbler Topping

  1. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  2. 4

    Add Milk and Butter

Pour in the milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined; do not overmix.

Assemble and Bake

  1. 5

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Layer the Fruit

Pour the fruit filling into a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.

  3. 7

    Top with Cobbler Batter

Spoon the cobbler topping over the fruit filling evenly, covering as much surface area as possible.

  4. 8

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the topping comes out clean.

  5. 9

    Cool and Serve

Allow the cobbler to cool for at least 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
