Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook until al dente according to the package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Cheese Sauce Preparation

  1. 2

    Make the Cheese Sauce

In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt 4 tablespoons of butter. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute, forming a roux. Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue cooking, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens (about 5-7 minutes).

  2. 3

    Add Cheese and Seasoning

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, salt, black pepper, and paprika until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth.

Combine and Bake

  1. 4

    Combine Pasta and Cheese Sauce

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained macaroni and the cheese sauce, mixing well to ensure all pasta is coated.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Breadcrumb Topping

In a small bowl, mix the bread crumbs with the melted butter and grated Parmesan cheese until evenly coated.

  3. 6

    Assemble and Bake

Transfer the macaroni and cheese mixture into a greased baking dish. Evenly sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture on top. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
