Fries Ingredients

Method

Frying Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Start by washing the Russet potatoes thoroughly under running water to remove dirt. Peel the potatoes and cut them into even strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potato strips in a large bowl filled with cold water. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.

  3. 3

    Dry the Potatoes

After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels. Make sure they are as dry as possible to avoid oil splatter during frying.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to check the temperature.

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a handful of the dried potato strips into the hot oil. Fry them in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 4-5 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain the Fries

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.

  7. 7

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Toss gently to coat evenly.

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve the fries immediately while they are hot and crispy, either plain or with your favorite dipping sauces.
