Pasta and Cheese Sauce

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the ear-shaped pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Cheese Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the flour and whisk until smooth, cooking for about 1 minute to form a roux. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.

  3. 3

    Add Cheese and Seasonings

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the shredded fontina cheese, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and mustard powder until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta and cheese sauce, mixing well to coat the pasta evenly.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Topping

In a small bowl, combine the bread crumbs and olive oil. Mix until the bread crumbs are evenly coated.

  6. 6

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the mac and cheese to a baking dish, sprinkle the bread crumb mixture on top, and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.

  7. 7

    Serve

Let the mac n' cheese sit for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your creamy, cheesy delight!
