Method
Preparation
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water (110°F-115°F), sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the milk, melted butter, egg, and the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 5
Shape the Rolls
Punch down the risen dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball.
- 6
Second Rise
Place the shaped rolls on a greased baking sheet, cover with a cloth, and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes.
- 7
Bake the Rolls
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
