Directions
- 1
Prepare the Bread
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cube the stale bread into bite-sized pieces and place it in a large mixing bowl.
- 2
Make the Custard
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Pour the custard mixture over the cubed bread. Gently fold in the raisins or chocolate chips if using. Allow the mixture to sit for about 15 minutes, allowing the bread to soak up the liquid.
- 4
Prepare the Baking Dish
Grease a baking dish with butter. Transfer the soaked bread mixture into the dish, spreading it evenly.
- 5
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
- 6
Serve
Let the bread pudding cool for a few minutes before serving. It can be served warm, optionally with a drizzle of caramel sauce or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
