Prepare the Tart Crust

Make the Dough
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, butter, sugar, and salt. Mix until crumbly. Add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Roll Out the Dough
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a thin circle that fits a tart pan. Press the dough into the pan and trim any excess.
Prepare the Filling

Slice the Apples
Peel, core, and slice the apples thinly. In a bowl, toss the apple slices with brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.

Arrange on Tart
Place the apple mixture in an overlapping pattern on the prepared tart crust.
Bake the Tart

Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
Serve

Allow the tart to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm with scoops of vanilla ice cream on the side.
