Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, egg, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Form Meatballs
Using your hands, form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.

Brown Meatballs
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.

Transfer to Oven
Transfer the browned meatballs to a baking sheet and place in the preheated oven. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until cooked through.

Add Tomatoes
Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes and stir to combine.

Season Sauce
Add dried oregano, salt, black pepper, chopped basil, and sugar. Stir well and bring the sauce to a simmer. Let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Combine Meatballs and Sauce
Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the marinara sauce and let them simmer together for an additional 5 minutes.

Serve the meatballs topped with additional grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves, if desired.
