Method
Preparation of Hummus
- 1
Rinse Chickpeas
Open the can of chickpeas and pour them into a colander. Rinse under cold running water to remove excess sodium and any canning liquid.
- 2
Blend Ingredients
In a food processor, combine the rinsed chickpeas, tahini, fresh lemon juice, garlic cloves (peeled), olive oil, ground cumin, and salt.
- 3
Add Water
Start processing the mixture. If the hummus is too thick, add water one tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is achieved.
- 4
Taste and Adjust
Taste the hummus and adjust salt or lemon juice according to your preference.
- 5
Serve
Transfer the hummus into a serving bowl and drizzle a little olive oil on top. Serve with warm pita and seasonal vegetables.
Serving
- 6
Warm the Pita
Gently warm the pita bread in a toaster or on a pan for a few minutes until soft.
- 7
