Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the mint

In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, place the fresh mint leaves. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently press the mint leaves to release their flavor. Be careful not to tear the leaves too much.

  2. 2

    Add lime juice

Cut the lime in half and squeeze the juice from one half into the glass with the mint leaves. Reserve the other half for garnish. If you prefer a sweeter mojito, you can add more lime juice at this stage.

  3. 3

    Combine the ingredients

Pour in the white rum and simple syrup into the glass with the muddled mint and lime juice. Stir gently to combine the ingredients.

  4. 4

    Add ice

Fill the glass with ice cubes to the top. This will help chill the drink and keep it refreshing.

  5. 5

    Top with soda water

Slowly pour soda water over the ice until the glass is nearly full. This adds the fizz and completes the mojito.

  6. 6

    Garnish and serve

Garnish the mojito with lime wedges and a sprig of mint for a beautiful presentation. Serve immediately with a straw to enjoy the refreshing flavors.
