Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the meat

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and Italian sausage. Break the meat apart with a spatula and cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare cheese mixture

In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix well until smooth and set aside.

  3. 3

    Cook lasagna noodles

In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Assembling the Lasagna

  1. 4

    Layer the ingredients

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 9x13 inch baking dish, start with a layer of marinara sauce at the bottom. Place 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by half of the cooked meat mixture, and a layer of marinara sauce. Sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella cheese on top.

  2. 5

    Repeat layers

Repeat the layering process with another 3 noodles, the remaining ricotta mixture, remaining meat, more marinara sauce, and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese. Finally, top with the last 3 noodles, the remaining marinara sauce, and the final cup of mozzarella cheese.

Baking

  1. 6

    Bake the lasagna

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Garlic Bread Preparation

  1. 7

    Prepare garlic bread

While the lasagna is baking, slice the French bread in half lengthwise. Mix butter and garlic powder together, then spread on the cut sides of the bread. Sprinkle with parsley if desired.

  2. 8

    Bake garlic bread

Place the bread on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 10 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
