Burger Components

Method

Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patties

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and add a slice of cheddar cheese to each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the cheese melts and the burgers are cooked to your desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burgers

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, a few rings of onion, ketchup, and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the burgers immediately with your favorite side dishes.
