Au Cheval (Chicago)

Method

Au Cheval (Chicago)

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Patty

In a bowl, season the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Form it into a thin patty, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patty

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the beef patty. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side until a crust forms, then flip it.

  3. 3

    Add the Cheese

After flipping the patty, place a slice of American cheese on top. Cook for an additional 2 minutes until the cheese melts.

  4. 4

    Toast the Bun

In a separate pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Place the burger bun cut side down in the pan and toast until golden brown.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burger

Spread the dijonnaise sauce on the bottom half of the toasted bun. Place the cooked beef patty with melted cheese on top. Add thick-cut pickle slices, then cap with the top half of the bun.
