Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl of dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined; be careful not to overmix, as this can make the hotcakes dense.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Preheat Skillet

Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. You can lightly grease it with a bit of butter or cooking spray if desired.

  2. 5

    Cook Hotcakes

Once the skillet is hot, pour about 1/4 cup of batter for each hotcake onto the skillet. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, about 2-3 minutes.

  3. 6

    Flip and Finish Cooking

Carefully flip the hotcake and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Repeat with the remaining batter, adjusting heat as necessary.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate and Serve

Stack the hotcakes on plates, add a pat of butter on top, and drizzle with maple syrup to taste. Enjoy your fluffy hotcakes!
