Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the water and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt until well combined.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it to the flour mixture along with the olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
Let it Rise
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Pizza Assembly
- 6
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat.
- 7
Shape the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it back to a floured surface. Roll it out into a circular shape to your desired thickness, usually about 12 inches in diameter.
- 8
Add Sauce
Transfer the rolled dough to a pizza peel or another baking sheet. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the surface of the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- 9
Add Cheese
Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce, followed by the Parmesan cheese. Add the dried oregano, dried basil, and black pepper to taste.
- 10
Bake the Pizza
Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 11
Cool and Slice
Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice into wedges and serve hot.
