Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Thaw the Turkey

If using a frozen turkey, ensure it is fully thawed. Place it in the refrigerator for several days before cooking.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C) to prepare for roasting the turkey.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Turkey

Remove the turkey from its packaging and take out the giblets from the cavity. Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.

  4. 4

    Season the Turkey

Rub the entire turkey with olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Make sure to coat it evenly. Stuff the cavity with minced garlic, quartered lemon, onion, and chopped herbs (rosemary and thyme).

Cooking

  1. 5

    Arrange Vegetables

Place chopped carrots and celery in the bottom of a roasting pan to create a bed for the turkey.

  2. 6

    Roast the Turkey

Place the turkey breast side up on top of the vegetables in the roasting pan. Insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the thigh without touching the bone.

  3. 7

    Cooking Time

Roast the turkey for approximately 13-15 minutes per pound. Baste the turkey every hour with its juices.

  4. 8

    Check Doneness

The turkey is done when the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

Resting and Serving

  1. 9

    Let it Rest

Once cooked, remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for at least 20-30 minutes before carving. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  2. 10

    Carve and Serve

Carve the turkey and serve it with your favorite sides.
