Tuna Tartare

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tuna

Finely dice the sushi-grade tuna into small cubes (about 1/4 inch). Ensure you use a sharp knife to maintain the texture of the fish.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Avocado

Cut the ripe avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh out with a spoon. Dice the avocado into similar-sized cubes as the tuna.

  3. 3

    Mix Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tuna, diced avocado, sesame seeds, chopped green onion, ponzu sauce, soy sauce, and lime juice. Gently fold the ingredients together to mix without mashing the avocado.

  4. 4

    Season

Season the mixture with salt and black pepper to taste. Be cautious with the salt, as the ponzu and soy sauce already add some saltiness.

Serving

  1. 5

    Plate the Tuna Tartare

Using a ring mold or simply a spoon, carefully shape the tuna tartare on a plate. If using a ring mold, gently press the mixture down to hold its shape.

  2. 6

    Garnish

Sprinkle additional sesame seeds on top for garnish. Optionally, add thin slices of avocado or microgreens around the tartare for a decorative touch.

  3. 7

    Serve Immediately

Serve the tuna tartare immediately with extra ponzu sauce on the side for dipping. Enjoy fresh and cold!
