Method

Tea Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a medium-sized pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Steep Tea

Once the water is boiling, remove it from heat and add 2 tablespoons of loose leaf black tea. Cover the pot and let it steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea.

  3. 3

    Strain Tea

After steeping, use a fine mesh strainer to strain the tea into a heatproof pitcher. Discard the used tea leaves.

Flavoring the Tea

  1. 4

    Add Flavorings

If desired, add 1 tablespoon of fresh mint leaves, 4 slices of lemon, and 2 tablespoons of honey or sugar to the hot tea. Stir well until the sweetener is dissolved.

Cooling and Serving

  1. 5

    Cool the Tea

Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour until chilled.

  2. 6

    Prepare Glasses

In each glass, place 1 cup of ice cubes. Optionally, add fresh fruit if desired.

  3. 7

    Pour and Serve

Pour the chilled tea over the ice in each glass. Stir gently and serve immediately.
