Method

Preparation of Fries

  1. 1

    Peel and Cut Potatoes

Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin strips to resemble French fries.

  2. 2

    Soak Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for about 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.

  3. 3

    Dry the Potatoes

After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean towel to remove excess moisture.

Frying Fries

  1. 4

    Heat Oil

In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Fry Potatoes

Carefully add the dried potato strips to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  3. 6

    Drain Fries

Use a slotted spoon to remove the fries from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate. Sprinkle with salt while they are still hot.

Cooking Hot Dogs

  1. 7

    Chop Hot Dogs

While the fries are frying, chop the hot dogs into small bite-sized pieces.

  2. 8

    Heat Hot Dogs

In a separate pan, add the chopped hot dogs and cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes or until they are browned and heated through.

Assembling Salchipapa

  1. 9

    Combine Ingredients

In a large serving bowl, combine the crispy fries and cooked hot dogs.

  2. 10

    Add Toppings

Serve the salchipapa with ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, and chili sauce on the side for drizzling or dipping.
