Cake Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- 3
Cream Butter and Sugar
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- 4
Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- 5
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
- 6
Bake the Cake
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Soaking the Cake
- 7
Prepare Milk Mixture
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk until well combined.
- 8
- 9
Chill the Cake
Cover the cake with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the cake to absorb the milk mixture.
Topping
- 10
Whip the Cream
In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- 11
Top the Cake
Spread the whipped cream over the top of the soaked cake. Optionally sprinkle with cinnamon.
- 12
Serve
Slice the cake and serve chilled. Enjoy your Tres Leches Cake!
