Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1.5 cups of granulated sugar, 1 tsp of baking powder, and 0.5 tsp of salt. Whisk together until well combined.
- 3
Cream Butter and Sugar
In another bowl, cream together 0.5 cups of softened unsalted butter and the remaining 0.5 cups of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- 4
Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add 3 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 1 tsp of vanilla extract.
- 5
Making the Chocolate Swirl

Prepare Chocolate Mixture
In a small bowl, mix together 0.5 cups of unsweetened cocoa powder, 0.5 cups of granulated sugar, and 0.5 cups of hot water until smooth.
Marbling the Cake

Layer the Batters
Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared baking pan. Then drizzle half of the chocolate mixture over it.
- 8
Add Remaining Batter
Pour the remaining cake batter on top and then drizzle the rest of the chocolate mixture.
- 9
Create Swirls
