Preparation

Muddle Ingredients
In a mixing glass, place the sugar cube and douse it with two dashes of Angostura bitters. If using simple syrup, skip this step. Add one slice of orange and the cherry. Muddle them together to release the juices from the fruit and dissolve the sugar.

Add Bourbon
Pour 2 ounces of bourbon into the mixing glass over the muddled mixture.
- 3
Add Ice
Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes (about 1 cup) to chill the mixture.
- 4
Stir
Stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds to combine and chill the ingredients.
Serving
- 5
Strain and Serve
Strain the mixture into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice. You can use a fine mesh strainer to remove any solid bits if desired.
- 6
Garnish
Twist a strip of orange peel over the drink to express its oils, then drop it into the glass as a garnish.
