Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the 10 oz ribeye steak out of the refrigerator and let it rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps the steak cook evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Pat the ribeye steak dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Drizzle olive oil over the steak and rub it in to ensure the seasoning adheres well.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Preheat the Skillet

Place a cast-iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan over high heat. Allow it to heat for about 5 minutes until it is very hot.

  2. 4

    Cook the Steak

Once the skillet is hot, carefully place the seasoned ribeye steak in the pan. Let it sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it to develop a crust.

  3. 5

    Flip the Steak

Using tongs, flip the ribeye steak to the other side. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare doneness, adjusting time based on your preferred level of doneness (about 3-4 minutes for rare, 5-6 for medium, and 6-8 for well done).

  4. 6

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and transfer it to a cutting board. Tent it with aluminum foil and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Serving

  1. 7

    Slice and Serve

After resting, slice the ribeye steak against the grain. Serve it on a plate and enjoy your perfectly cooked ribeye steak.
