Method
Prepare the Cheese
- 1
Cut the Cheese
If using large mozzarella cheese blocks, cut them into sticks about 1/2 inch thick.
Set Up Breading Station
- 2
Prepare Breading Ingredients
Set up three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mixture of breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
Bread the Cheese Sticks
- 3
Coat the Cheese Sticks
Dip each mozzarella stick first in flour, shaking off the excess, then into the beaten eggs, allowing excess to drip off, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.
- 4
Repeat the Process
Repeat the dipping process until all mozzarella sticks are breaded.
Fry the Cheese Sticks
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a deep saucepan or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Fry the Sticks
Carefully add the breaded mozzarella sticks to the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
- 7
Drain the Sticks
Remove the mozzarella sticks with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Serve
- 8
Plate and Serve
Serve the hot mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
