Ahi Tuna Prep

Garnish and Serving

Method

Ahi Tuna Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Ahi Tuna

In a medium bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, lime juice, honey, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Add Tuna to Marinade

Place the Ahi tuna steaks in the marinade. Ensure they are completely submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, preferably 1 hour for maximum flavor.

  3. 3

    Heat Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a splash of sesame oil to prevent sticking.

  4. 4

    Cook Tuna Steaks

Remove the tuna from the marinade and let excess marinade drip off. Grill or sear the tuna steaks for about 2-3 minutes on each side for rare, longer if you prefer a more cooked steak. The outside should be seared while the inside remains pink.

Garnishing and Serving

  1. 5

    Prepare Garnish

While the tuna is cooking, prepare your garnishes. Toast sesame seeds in a dry pan over medium heat until golden brown, being careful not to burn them.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Dish

Once the tuna is cooked, remove it from the heat and let it rest for a minute. Slice the tuna into strips and arrange it on a plate.

  3. 7

    Add Garnishes

Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions over the sliced tuna. Serve with avocado slices and a side of mixed greens or salad.
