Chai-infused Montenegro Mix

Method

Chai-infused Montenegro Mix

1

Brew and cool the chai

Bring 8 oz (about 240 ml) of water to a boil. Steep 1 tablespoon of chai loose leaf or 1 chai tea bag in the hot water for 6–7 minutes to make a very strong concentrate. Remove the tea, squeeze the bag or strain leaves, and let the concentrate cool to room temperature (about 15–20 minutes). If short on time, place in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to cool faster.

2

Combine ingredients

In a mixing glass or small pitcher, add 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice and 1 teaspoon pure maple syrup. Pour in 3 tablespoons Amaro Montenegro, then add 1/4 cup (60 ml) of the cooled chai concentrate (this yields the 1 cup total of chai-based liquid when adjusted for dilution — see next step). Stir until maple syrup dissolves completely.

3

Adjust chai volume

Add additional cooled chai concentrate to the mixture until the total chai component measures about 1 cup (240 ml) combined with the Montenegro and lemon mixture dilution. The goal is a balanced, slightly spiced tea-forward profile. Stir gently to homogenize.

To Serve

4

Fill an old-fashioned glass or coupe with large ice cubes. Pour approximately 4–5 ounces (120–150 ml) of the prepared Chai-infused Montenegro mix over the ice. If serving neat in a chilled glass, omit ice and pour 2.5–3 oz (75–90 ml) per serving.

5

Garnish with a lemon peel expressed over the drink (twist to release oils) and drop it into the glass. If desired, add a dash of aromatic bitters on top for extra complexity.

6

Serve immediately. Stir once briefly before sipping to ensure maple syrup remains integrated.
