Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Coffee Rub

In a small bowl, mix together the Kona coffee, brown sugar, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the coffee mixture all over the ribeye steak, ensuring an even coating. Let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate.

  3. 3

    Sear the Steak

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the ribeye steak and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness is reached.

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This helps retain the juices.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Preparation

  1. 5

    Cook the Potatoes

Peel and cut the russet potatoes into chunks. Place them in a large pot, cover with cold water, and add a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 6

    Prepare the Garlic

While the potatoes are cooking, peel the garlic cloves and add them to the pot during the last 5 minutes of cooking.

  3. 7

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and garlic, then return to the pot. Add butter and milk, and mash until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
