For the Chocolate Lava Cake
For Serving
Method
Prepare the Chocolate Lava Cake
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to ensure it is hot when the cakes are ready to be baked.
- 2
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 170g of dark chocolate and 115g of unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the mixture is completely melted and smooth.
- 3
Whisk Eggs and Sugar
In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together 2 large eggs, 2 large egg yolks, and 50g of granulated sugar until pale and fluffy.
- 4
- 5
Add Flour
Gently fold in 30g of all-purpose flour until just combined. Be careful not to overmix the batter.
- 6
- 7
Bake
Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is soft.
- 8
Cool and Serve
Remove the ramekins from the oven and let them cool for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate to release the cake. Serve immediately with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream on the side.
