Steak and Sandwich Assembly

Method

Prepare the French Fries

  1. 1

    Fry the Potatoes

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Add the cut potatoes in batches and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels, then sprinkle with salt.

Cook the Steak and Assemble the Sandwich

  1. 2

    Cook the Rib-eye Steak

Season the rib-eye steak with salt and black pepper. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Remove from skillet and let rest.

  2. 3

    Sauté the Mushrooms

In the same skillet, add sliced mushrooms and sauté until golden brown, approximately 5 minutes.

  3. 4

    Caramelize the Onions

If not pre-cooked, add sliced onions to the skillet and cook on low heat until caramelized, about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 5

    Assemble the Sandwich

Slice the ciabatta bread in half. Spread horseradish mustard on both sides. Layer the cooked rib-eye steak, sautéed mushrooms, caramelized onions, and top with shredded cheddar cheese. Place the sandwich under a broiler for 1-2 minutes to melt the cheese, if desired.
