Method

Casserole Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the sliced potatoes and cook for about 10 minutes, or until just tender. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Cheese Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Bring to a gentle simmer, then add the smoked cheddar cheese, stirring until melted and smooth.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Casserole

In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, layer half of the cooked potatoes. Pour half of the cheese sauce over the potatoes. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes and cheese sauce.

  4. 4

    Bake the Casserole

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.

  5. 5

    Garnish and Serve

Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before garnishing with chopped green onions. Serve warm.
