Cocktail Base

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Muddle the Mint and Sugar

In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, place the fresh mint leaves and granulated sugar. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently press down on the mint leaves to release their oils, mixing them with the sugar. Be careful not to tear the leaves too much; just bruise them slightly.

  2. 2

    Add Lime Juice

Cut the lime in half and squeeze the juice of both halves into the glass or shaker. You can also drop one half into the mixture for added flavor. Stir the mixture gently to dissolve the sugar completely.

  3. 3

    Mix in the Rum

Pour the white rum into the glass or shaker with the muddled mint, lime juice, and sugar mixture. Stir gently to combine the ingredients.

  4. 4

    Add Ice and Club Soda

Fill the glass with ice cubes to the top. Pour the club soda over the ice to fill the glass, allowing the mixture to fizz and combine. Stir gently to mix the flavors without disturbing the mint leaves too much.

  5. 5

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish your mojito with a sprig of fresh mint and a lime wedge on the rim of the glass. Serve immediately with a straw for easy sipping.
