Method
Prep & Setup
- 1
Remove all ice cream tubs from the freezer and place them on the counter for 5–10 minutes to soften slightly so they are scoopable but not melted.
- 2
- 3
Arrange toppings: put crushed nuts, chocolate chips, sprinkles, toasted coconut, and maraschino cherries into separate small bowls. Place fresh fruit (strawberries and banana) on a platter and mint leaves in a small bowl.
- 4
Set out waffle cones, sundae bowls, and spoons on a serving tray so guests can help themselves or so you can assemble sundaes quickly.
Scooping & Assembling Assorted Servings
- 5
Classic Sundae (Vanilla + Hot Fudge)
Scoop 2 generous scoops (about 180 ml total) of vanilla ice cream into a sundae bowl. Warm 30–40 ml of hot fudge if it is very stiff (10–15 seconds in microwave). Drizzle 20–30 ml hot fudge over the scoops, add a dollop (about 30 ml) of whipped cream, sprinkle 10 g crushed nuts, and top with one maraschino cherry and a mint leaf.
- 6
Chocolate Lover (Chocolate + Chocolate Chips)
Scoop 2 scoops (about 180 ml) of chocolate ice cream into a bowl. Drizzle 20–30 ml hot fudge and sprinkle 15 g mini chocolate chips and 5 g sprinkles. Add whipped cream (≈20 ml) and a cherry or mint leaf if desired.
- 7
Strawberry Delight (Strawberry + Fresh Fruit)
Scoop 2 scoops (about 180 ml) of strawberry ice cream into a bowl. Spoon 25–30 ml strawberry sauce over the ice cream, arrange 3–4 halved strawberries and a few banana slices around the scoops, add a small dollop (≈20 ml) of whipped cream and sprinkle with toasted coconut (≈5 g). Garnish with a mint leaf.
- 8
Mint Chip Cone (Mint + Sprinkles)
Scoop 2 scoops (about 140 ml) of mint chocolate chip into a waffle cone. Roll the top briefly in sprinkles (10 g) and press a few mini chocolate chips into the top scoop. Serve with a napkin or place in a cone holder.
- 9
Create-Your-Own Assortment (for guests)
Offer bowls of each ice cream and all toppings so guests can assemble. Suggest combinations: caramel + bananas + nuts; vanilla + strawberry sauce + fresh strawberries; chocolate + caramel + coconut. Provide small scoops so guests can take single scoops of several flavors.
Finishing & Serving
- 10
Keep any unused ice cream tubs in the freezer between assembly batches to prevent melting. If preparing multiple sundaes in advance, place finished sundaes on a chilled tray briefly (no more than 5 minutes) and serve immediately.
- 11
Clean any drips on bowl edges, add spoons, and serve immediately. Replenish toppings as needed during service.
