Main Ingredients
Sweet and Spicy Sauce
Method
Preparation of Tofu and Vegetables
Press the Tofu
Begin by pressing the firm tofu to remove excess moisture. Wrap the tofu in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy weight on top (like a skillet) for about 15-20 minutes.
Chop the Vegetables
While the tofu is being pressed, slice the bell pepper and red onion. Chop the green onions and set aside.
Cooking the Tofu
Cut and Cook the Tofu
Once the tofu is pressed, cut it into bite-sized cubes. Heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook until they are golden and crispy on all sides, about 8-10 minutes.
Making the Sauce
Mix Ingredients
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, maple syrup, Sriracha, rice vinegar, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water until smooth.
Combine and Serve
Add Vegetables and Sauce
Once the tofu is crispy, add the sliced bell pepper and red onion to the skillet. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender. Pour the sauce over the tofu and vegetables and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens.
Garnish and Serve
Remove from heat and sprinkle chopped green onions on top. Serve warm as a standalone dish or with your choice of sides.
