Method

Preparation of Tzatziki

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cucumber

Wash the cucumber thoroughly. Grate it using a box grater or a food processor. Once grated, place it in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out excess moisture. This step is crucial to prevent the tzatziki from becoming watery.

  2. 2

    Mince the Garlic

Peel the garlic cloves and use a garlic press or a knife to mince them finely. For a milder garlic flavor, you can reduce the quantity.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, dried dill, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

  4. 4

    Chill the Tzatziki

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

Serving

  1. 5

    Prepare the Pita Bread

While the tzatziki is chilling, you can warm the pita bread. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Wrap the pita bread in aluminum foil and place it in the oven for about 10 minutes until warm.

  2. 6

    Serve

Once the tzatziki has chilled and the pita bread is warm, serve the tzatziki in a bowl alongside the warm pita bread. Enjoy as a dip or spread.
