Method

Falafel Fritters

  1. 1

    Prepare the Falafel Mixture

In a food processor, combine the canned chickpeas, parsley, cilantro, garlic, onion, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Pulse until the mixture is coarse but well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Fritters

Transfer the mixture to a bowl and stir in the flour until well combined. Form the mixture into small patties or balls, about the size of a golf ball, and place them on a tray.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).

  4. 4

    Fry the Falafel

Carefully add the falafel patties to the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Hummus

  1. 5

    Blend the Ingredients

In a food processor, combine the canned chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, salt, and water. Blend until smooth and creamy, adjusting the consistency with more water if necessary.

  2. 6

    Serve

Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and garnish with a sprinkle of paprika or cumin if desired.

Tzatziki Sauce

  1. 7

    Prepare the Cucumber

Grate the cucumber and squeeze out excess moisture using a clean cloth or paper towel.

  2. 8

    Mix the Ingredients

In a bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, dill, lemon juice, and salt. Stir until well combined and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Serving

  1. 9

    Plate the Dish

Serve the fried falafel fritters on a plate with a side of hummus, tzatziki sauce, and warm pita bread for dipping.
