Method

Falafel Preparation

  1. 1

    Soak and Prepare Chickpeas

Drain and rinse the canned chickpeas. In a food processor, combine chickpeas, parsley, cilantro, garlic, onion, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and flour. Pulse until the mixture is coarsely blended, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed.

  2. 2

    Form Falafel Balls

Transfer the mixture to a bowl and refrigerate for about 30 minutes. Once chilled, shape the mixture into small balls, about 1.5 inches in diameter.

  3. 3

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Fry Falafel

Carefully drop the falafel balls into the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and drain on paper towels.

Tahini Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Make Tahini Sauce

In a bowl, whisk together tahini, lemon juice, minced garlic, water, and salt until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more water if needed. Drizzle with olive oil before serving.
