Tuna

Avocado or Asparagus

Method

Preparing the Tuna

  1. 1

    Marinate the Tuna

In a bowl, mix olive oil, soy sauce, sesame seeds, salt, and black pepper. Add the tuna steaks and let marinate for at least 15 minutes.

  2. 2

    Sear the Tuna

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add a little olive oil. Once hot, add the marinated tuna steaks and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Adjust time for desired doneness.

Preparing the Accompaniment

  1. 3

    Prepare Avocado

Slice the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a bowl. Mash lightly and mix in lemon juice, salt, and set aside.

  2. 4

    Prepare Asparagus

If using asparagus, trim the ends and toss with olive oil and salt. Sauté in the same skillet for about 5-7 minutes until tender.

Serving

  1. 5

    Plate the Dish

Serve the seared tuna alongside either the avocado mash or sautéed asparagus. Garnish with extra sesame seeds if desired.
