For the Tiramisu
For Garnish
Method
Preparation of Tiramisu
- 1
Separate the Eggs
Carefully separate the egg yolks from the whites, placing the yolks in a mixing bowl and the whites in a separate bowl.
- 2
Make the Egg Mixture
Add granulated sugar to the egg yolks and whisk until the mixture is pale and creamy, about 5 minutes.
- 3
Add Mascarpone
Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese into the egg yolk mixture until well combined. Do not overmix.
- 4
- 5
Whip the Cream
In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Then, fold it into the mascarpone mixture until smooth.
- 6
Prepare Coffee Mixture
In a shallow dish, combine the brewed coffee with coffee liqueur (if using).
- 7
Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
- 8
Layer Tiramisu
In a rectangular or square dish, arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers at the bottom, then spread half of the mascarpone mixture over them. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and finish with the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- 9
Chill
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight to set.
- 10
Dust with Cocoa Powder
Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu generously with cocoa powder.
- 11
Garnish
Top with dark chocolate shavings for an extra touch of flavor and presentation.
