Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare Ramekins

Grease four ramekins with butter and dust them with cocoa powder to prevent sticking.

Making the Batter

  1. 3

    Melt Butter and Chocolate

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsalted butter and semi-sweet chocolate chips. Heat in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.

  2. 4

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and large egg yolks until well combined and slightly thickened.

  3. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring to combine. Add in the all-purpose flour and vanilla extract, mixing until just combined.

Baking

  1. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

  2. 7

    Bake

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is still soft.

  3. 8

    Cool Slightly

Remove from the oven and let cool for 1-2 minutes.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve with Ice Cream

Invert each ramekin onto a plate, allowing the cake to release. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
