Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Tomatoes
Wash the ripe tomatoes under cool running water. Remove the stems and cut them into quarters.
- 2
Chop the Basil
Wash the fresh basil leaves and pat them dry. Stack the leaves, roll them tightly, and slice them into thin strips (chiffonade).
- 3
Mince the Garlic
Peel the garlic cloves and mince them finely using a knife or a garlic press.
Cooking
- 4
Sauté the Ingredients
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- 5
Add Tomatoes and Seasoning
Add the quartered tomatoes to the skillet. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper. Stir well and cook for about 10 minutes, allowing the tomatoes to soften and release their juices.
- 6
Finish with Basil
Once the tomatoes are cooked down, remove the skillet from heat. Stir in the chopped basil and let it sit for a few minutes to meld the flavors.
Serving
- 7
Plate and Serve
Serve the sautéed tomatoes warm. If desired, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and drizzle with balsamic glaze before serving.
