Method
Cocktail
Prepare and Shake
Chill a rocks glass or coupe by filling with ice or placing in the freezer briefly. In a cocktail shaker add 2 oz Don Julio Blanco, 0.75 oz Cointreau, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz simple syrup, and 1.5 oz ruby red grapefruit juice. Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until well chilled and the shaker is frosty.
Strain
Discard ice from the chilled glass. Double strain the cocktail into the glass over fresh ice (for a rocks presentation) or straight into the chilled coupe if serving up. Use a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove small ice shards and pulp for a smoother texture.
Garnish & Serve
If you prefer a rim, rub the lime wedge around the glass edge and dip into coarse salt or Tajín to coat lightly. Finish the cocktail with a grapefruit wheel or wedge on the rim or floated on top. Serve immediately.
