Method

Preparing the Salad Base

  1. 1

    Prepare the Lettuce

Wash and dry the romaine lettuce. Chop it into bite-sized pieces and place it in a large salad bowl.

  2. 2

    Add Tomatoes

Halve the cherry tomatoes and add them to the bowl with the lettuce.

  3. 3

    Slice the Onion

Thinly slice the red onion and add to the salad bowl.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Avocado

Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into the bowl. Slice it into thin pieces.

  5. 5

    Add Olives

Drain and slice the black olives, then add them to the salad bowl.

Cooking the Fajita Mix

  1. 6

    Prepare the Bell Peppers

Wash and slice the bell peppers into thin strips.

  2. 7

    Heat Oil

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.

  3. 8

    Cook Vegetables

Add the sliced bell peppers and red onion to the skillet. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they start to soften.

  4. 9

    Season the Mix

Sprinkle in the cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and continue cooking for an additional 2 minutes.

  5. 10

    Add the Meat

Add the ground beef or chicken to the skillet. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, about 7-10 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula.

Assembling the Taco Salad

  1. 11

    Layer the Salad

Once the fajita mix is cooked, layer it over the prepared salad base in the bowl.

  2. 12

    Add Toppings

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the salad, followed by dollops of sour cream and salsa.

  3. 13

    Garnish

If desired, sprinkle chopped cilantro over the top for added flavor.

  4. 14

    Serve

Toss the salad lightly before serving, and enjoy your delicious Taco Salad Fajita!
